5 Jack is a versatile, high-performance sound server. It is geared
6 towards music professionals, and offers excellent low-latency
7 operation when properly configured.

9 Jack works best with, but does not require, a low-latency patched
10 kernel. To obtain a patch for your kernel, see:

14 If you are using a patched kernel and wish to run jackd as a
15 non-priviliged user, consider launching the jack daemon with:

17 schedtool -I -e jackd [options]

19 This will allow jackd to run in near real-time, to provide
20 minimum latency, without starving other processes.
